Old Spanish lullabies

New music video alert! Maia plays an old Andalusian lullaby titled “Nana”. This melody was transcribed and harmonized by Manuel De Falla — who remembered his mother singing it to him as a child. It appears in a suite of popular Spanish songs (“Siete Canciones Populares Españolas”) that he wrote in Paris in 1914.

What you hear on this recording is a small bardic Camac lap harp of 22 strings fitted with a piezo pickup mic and Maia’s voice. Video by Aymen Bachrouch.
